Have you ever wanted to go kayaking but couldn’t because of a long walk to get to the water? Pakayak has found a solution, named the Bluefin 14. They have come up with a way to have a kayak collapse and be able to have the parts nest inside each other to be easier to carry, as seen in the photo below, weighing in at about 55 lbs.
The idea of Pakayak came from the founder and inventor, Doug Mackro’s desire to not have to load, unload, and store full size kayaks. Pakayak was founded in 2016 in Higganum, Connecticut. The kayak is held together by patented clamps that hold a water-tight seal.
In their future Pakayak plans to make different components to appeal to different hobbies or needs. For example a section for a dog or child, a spot for fishing supplies, or a section to make the kayak a tandem. There are plans to have a 12′ and a 16′ or 17′ packable kayack.
The easiest way to buy a Pakayak kayak is at their kickstarter page. Stay tuned for updates!
